The text from John 10:22-42 keeps us thinking about how true believers in Jesus are like sheep. They hear his voice. They know him, they follow him. But what is more is how Jesus secures and cares for his sheep: They have eternal life! They will never perish, and no one will ever separate them from the Good Shepherd’s love! These are powerful and comforting words for those who put their faith in Christ. But not everyone who hears this message finds these ideas encouraging. Jesus says clearly that some people are not his sheep and will want to rid him from their lives. The question remains for us: Do we know him? Do we truly follow? Prepare yourself to think on these things even as we process a foundational Christian truth – the unity of the Father with the Son!
